Words and Music by Raccoon
as
recorded on Road Kill
The
chord progressions to this song are:
·
E, F#m*,
G#m*, F#m*
·
E, G, A, B
·
E**, B, A, B, E6, B, A, B
*Note:
The E, F#m and the G#m are
the same as the “Sweet Melissa” chords. The open E is played normally while the
F# and G# are played where you would bar them starting at the 2nd
and 4th frets except you leave the bottom two strings (B and E)
open. (I will add chord diagrams later). Also there is a lick played off the G#m and F#m with the picking on
the high-E and B strings (this will be tabbed out later).
**Note:
The E in the chorus is done using the A-form at the 3th
fret. The 2nd time the E is played during the chorus, the chords is
E add 6 which is done by barring the A-form E chord at the 7th fret,
and adding the C# note on the 9th fret of the high-E string. (I will
add chord diagrams later).
Oh, the time’s
are changin' - nothing ever stays the same, no, no
Mmmm
the time’s are changin' -
the bear and the eagle are to blame, yeah, yeah
You can’t tame a bear and your can't
chain an eagle down
And you can’t make a river flow
upstream
And the dead don’t make no sound, no
sound, no sound
By tomorrow I’ll be on the road again,
my friend
I can hear the wild birds calling my
name
I can hear the wild birds calling me
home
Doo
do doot do doot doot do doot
Doo
do doot do doot doot do doot
Doo
do doot do - do doot doot do
John’s down by the river and he never
sets foot in the city
At least not by the light of day, yeah,
yeah, yeah
John’s down by the river and he never
sets foot in the city
All he wants to do is get high and
play, hey
It feels safer that way
He's singing, “Yahweh sunshine,
sunshine light my day
Yahweh sunshine, sunshine light my way”
You gotta
stand up, stand out
Raise your voice and shout
Be a man, make a plan and take a stand
Let it all hang out
He's singin',
“Yahweh, sunshine, sunshine fill my heart
Yahweh sunshine, sunshine help me do my part”
You can feel the beat beneath the city
street
Poundin'
in my head makin' me wish I never done the things I
did
By tomorrow I’ll be on the road again,
my friend
I can hear the wild birds calling my
name
I can hear the wild birds calling me
home
Doo
do doot do doot doot do doot
Doo
do doot do doot doot do doot
Doo
do doot do - do doot doot do
Johns down by the river and he never
sets foot in the city
At least not by the light of day, eh,
yeah, yeah, yeah
John’s down by the river
All he wants to do is get high and
play, hey
It feels safer that way
Singin',
“Yahweh sunshine, sunshine warm my bones
Yahweh sunshine, sunshine light my way
home”
